I am sure all you are hearing about right now is the Corona Virus. It is all the media talks about and if you are in Ohio then you are stuck at home still only hearing about the virus. Well I am here to talk about everything but CORVID-19. All through the virus is definitely taking over the news everywhere, so much more is going on. Good, positive things are happening around us.
Even if this news isn’t the top headline of the news stories they will hopefully bring laughter or a smile to your face.
Penguin Field Trip:
Chicago’s Aquarium might be closed off to the public but the animals inside are all still being taken care of. Some of the caretakers decided to take the penguins on a little field trip around the aquarium. The workers said that we all might all feel strange, these are just normal days for the animals. The workers at the facility are coming up with all sorts of creative ways for the animals so take advantage of this time.
Starbucks and McDonalds Paper cups:
As more and more information is being spread about the effect of how much plastic we use and throw out it is really affecting our environment negatively. As the plastic straws were being used less and less the summer of 2019 and now Starbucks only has select straws at their locations. Most of the cups are now made so you don’t need a straw. They have lids so you can drink cold drinks like you would a hot drink. Now McDondalds is jumping on the train with Starbucks and are making disposable cups for most of their drinks, and are all recyclable!
Gender Neutral Barbies:
Barbies have always been stereotyped as “Girl toys” or if you played with Barbies you were automatically “Girly”. Well now those stereotypes are being knocked down. The first line of gender neutral barbies are being released! Mattel is the biggest Barbie producer out there, and is now taking a big step in the right direction. The new line is called “Creatable World”, they will allow children to choose different hairstyles, and outfits that are all gender neutral. This allows children to figure out what gender means to them. Mattel’s senior vice president says that they thought it was time to create a doll line free of labels!
Pet Drive through:
Since a lot of places are being shut down a lot of animal shelters are trying to find places for animals who need to be fostered. Social distancing might be boring and lonely. Why not make it a little more cheerful and happy. To cut down on the face to face encounter it takes for you to start fostering adoption centers are opening drive throughs to pick up your new animal to take home. The adoption places have said how it is not healthy for animals to sit in cages for 30 days they need to be treated and have space to play. So why not get an excuse to go outside and walk a dog or play with your cat. Might make your quarantine a bit more interesting.
“Some Good News”:
John Kraskinki is a very well known actor for some very popular tv shows and movies such as “The Office ”. John was realizing a lot of the things many people all around the world are noticing. There is not much positive news that we are seeing. All we are seeing is news about Covid-19 (as I stated previously). He decided to make a “News show” called Some Good News. Now he talks about very heartwarming stories about what people are doing to get through this pandemic. Yet he had one of the most iconic guest stars chime in and say hello. Steve Carrel. As John played Jim Halpert and Steve played Michael Scott in the show “The Office”. Many of the Office fans were ecstatic to see the two of them talking and catching up.They even talked about certain memories and about their experience. Something office fans have been waiting for!
There can be so much good news going on in the world, even in some of the hardest times. “Look for something positive each day, even if some days you have to look a little harder.”
